Cowboys of Rodeo is a long-term storytelling project documenting the lives of Australian rodeo cowboys and the communities that surround the sport. Over the past three years, the project has followed competitors across rural Australia, travelling thousands of kilometres between country towns, rodeo grounds, and remote properties to capture an authentic portrait of modern cowboy life. Through a combination of documentary photography and short-form films Cowboys of Rodeo explores the grit, sacrifice, and quiet determination required to compete in one of the toughest sports in the world.
The project focuses not just on the action inside the arena but on the people behind it, their families, livelihoods, and the culture that binds rural communities together. By blending cinematic still imagery with a mini docu-series and behind-the chutes interviews, Cowboys of Rodeo aims to share the spirit of Australian rodeo with a wider audience, offering an honest insight into what it truly takes to live the life of a cowboy.
As an extension of the project we have developed and curated a range of products and merchandise designed to celebrate both the new generation and timeless traditions of Australia’s cowboy culture. These include a range of apparel, a traditional moonshine with signature cocktails and a limited edition printed book.
